Oriental tobacco , or Turkish tobacco, is a variety of tobacco. It is especially known for its more pronounced aromas than other varieties of tobacco. It is a variety with small leaves, dried in the sun. Historically it was grown in Thrace and Macedonia ; culture now extends from the Greek coasts Turkey to the Black Sea , including Bulgaria and northern Macedonia . Oriental tobacco is also grown in Egypt and South Africa. The taste is sweetly heavy, sweaty and grassy.
