The method of drying influences the taste, strength and colour of the tobacco. This results in different types of tobacco, such as golden Virginia and brown Burley. After drying the tobacco must ‘rest’ before it can be shipped and processed.The taste when smoked is described as sweet, straw-like and hay-like.
